José Mendoza hails from California, where he began his Mexican Folk Dance training under the guidance of Antonieta Hogan. By the time he graduated high school, he was performing for various professional dance groups in the Los Angeles area, including Ballet Folklórico of USC, Ballet Folklórico Mixteco, and Sol Dance Company, where he established himself as a costume designer and creator. Additionally, José trained flamenco dance under the tutelage of Carla Luna. Once he relocated to NYC, he began performing with the Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Nueva York, and eventually served as Assistant Director. When José isn’t busy creating dances or costumes, he may be seen performing as a singer in different cultural events throughout NYC.
